ANBIT (ERC AdG) – Analog Photonic Computation (GA 101097092)

An ERC Advanced Grant developing a new “analog photonic computation” paradigm that uses programmable integrated photonics to perform real-time analog processing beyond the limits of digital electronics, with validation on fabricated silicon photonic chips.

UPVfab (Advanced Microfabrication Facility, UPV)

UPV’s microfabrication R&D and pilot-line facility, providing ISO-7 cleanroom infrastructure and semiconductor back-end processing capabilities to support research, prototyping, and technology development.

Microwave Photonics (PROMETEO/2017/103)

A research project advancing integrated microwave photonics and advanced MWP techniques, targeting high-impact applications such as 5G, IoT, autonomous driving, distributed sensing, and reflectometry-based inspection and security/biomedical systems.

EOS-3D – Embedded Optical Fiber Sensors for Real-Time 3D SHM

A proof-of-concept project embedding optical fiber sensors (including multi-core fibers) into aerospace-like composite parts to enable real-time 3D structural health monitoring, validated with certified measurement equipment.

CALIFIBER (AVI + EU/FEDER) – Continuous Water-Quality Monitoring with Fiber Optics

A 2023–2025 project developing in-pipe fiber-optic cable sensing to continuously measure multiple physico-chemical parameters and monitor drinking-water quality in real time across distribution networks.

InTEnSO – Extreme-Temperature Interrogation with Optical Sensors

A project focused on improving optical fiber (FBG) sensors for harsh industrial environments by developing innovative coatings that boost mechanical/chemical resistance and maintain performance even under strong electromagnetic fields.

Advanced Instrumentation (Microwave & Programmable Photonics) – Phase 2

An investment project strengthening PRL’s world-class measurement capabilities by acquiring next-generation equipment for microwave photonics and programmable photonics, supporting cutting-edge experiments, packaging/assembly, and future Horizon Europe/ERC competitiveness.

Advanced Instrumentation (Microwave & Programmable Photonics) – Phase 1

A first phase focused on upgrading PRL/iTEAM’s state-of-the-art lab infrastructure for microwave photonics and programmable photonics, enabling advanced measurements and characterization for emerging high-frequency/photonic concepts.

Advanced Instrumentation Service – Microwave Photonics Research Lab Upgrade (started 2016)

A lab-instrumentation project to expand PRL’s test and measurement capability (including high-frequency characterization up to tens of GHz and beyond), supporting advanced MWP links/systems and 5G-related experimentation.

PICs4All (GA 687777) – Photonic Integrated Circuits Accessible to Everyone

An H2020 coordination and support action designed to lower barriers to photonic integrated circuits by building a European network of Application Support Centres, offering training and hands-on support to academia and SMEs for PIC design, fabrication (MPW runs), testing, and packaging.

COST Action CA19111 – NEWFOCUS (Optical Wireless Communications)

A European networking action accelerating future optical wireless communication technologies, coordinating research and community activities (working groups, meetings, training schools, and exchanges) toward next-generation wireless systems.

EUIMWP – European Network for High-Performance Integrated Microwave Photonics (COST)

A COST network consolidating the integrated microwave photonics community, promoting knowledge exchange and technology benchmarking to define performance indicators and future requirements for high-performance scenarios (e.g., 5G, automotive, aerospace).

INESSE (ITN) – FIbre NErvous Sensing SystEms

A European Innovative Training Network aiming to “mimic a nervous system” using advanced distributed fiber-optic sensing, turning structures into stimulus-sensitive systems for early warning of damage and more sustainable operation of critical assets.
