Raúl holds a BSc in Telecommunications Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) with developing interests in RF and photonic systems. Afterward, he moved to Belgium to study the joint Master of Science in Photonics Engineering from UGent/VUB in Ghent. There he focused his main activity on the fields of integrated photonics, micro/nanofabrication in the cleanroom, nanophotonic semiconductor devices, and semiconductor nanocrystals’ integration on silicon/silicon nitride photonics, ending up with a master’s thesis on integrated SiN spectrometer with colloidal quantum dot-based photodetectors.
Recently, he joined the Photonics Research Labs (iTEAM – UPV) as a researcher to develop his main work on the ERC grant “Analog Photonic Computing” project, where he focuses on designing the integrated programmable photonics hardware and contributing to the Analog Photonic Information and Analog Photonic Computation theories.
